about
Client: Dough Momma, Software(s): Adobe: Illustrator & Photoshop
Dough Momma is our family business, specializing in Filipino pastries such as Ensaymadas (filipino-style brioche), Ube Custard Cakes, Ube and Milk/Caramel Bars, and much more! We started Dough Momma back in 2020 in hopes to spread the pastries to our Filipino community. Fast-forward 4 years later, we’re thriving at multiple food events weekly, catering to not only Filipinos but introducing Filipino delicacies to a broader audience!
Social Design
packaging/stickers
To meet requirements for displaying ingredients and allergens on the packaging, we leveraged the shape of the pastry box to create a layered visual experience. Instead of placing all information in one area, we strategically divided content across the box's corners and bag’s natural folds—folding the sticker so that the front face highlights the main branding, while the side face discreetly presents ingredient and allergen details.
branding
Dough Momma’s branding goal was to be bright, inviting, and fun. By using a rounded art deco font, we wanted to mimic the shape dough takes on before baking. Very pliable with curved movements but still uniformed. This font was paired with a san serif font to balance out the weight of the heavier font for the logo. We added Dough Momma herself in the logo and illustrated a line drawing of her to accompany the logo type. The goal was to portray a homestyle vibe similar to the feeling one may get by purchasing a cookie from Mrs. Fields.
For the colors, we paired soft pastels and a radiant yellow against the logos’s vibrant shade of blue. We want Dough Momma to be easily distinguishable along a row of other food vendors by using these bright, pop of colors.
